Shakedown Radio Episode #004

Happy New Year! Shakedown Radio's 2018 escapades gets off to a strong start with a Spring '77 St. Stephen double decker! The band rumbles into unfamiliar territory during the NFA improv and finally settles down into a beautiful Stella Blue before closing the suite off with a return to gather what others have spilled. This week's DMCA mandated break is handled by Circles Around The Sun, who deliver a nice instrumental 'Mountains Of The Moon' cover off of their 2015 'Interludes For The Dead', which of course was used as the setbreak music at the big 'Fare Thee Well' shows that summer. Tonights episode ends with one of my personal favorites- a deep, dark Estimated Prophet from NYE's Eve 1977 that lands in one of the greatest 'Eyes' ever played. (Editors Note: One of the first bootlegs I ever listened to. Blessed.) These are the songs that the morning brings! See you next time on Shakedown Radio, Louisiana's Grateful Dead radio hour! NFA!

Shakedown Radio Episode #003

Shakedown Radio Episode #003! Off to the races with a big VP approved West Coast '73 Here Comes Sunshine and the mystic Englishtown '77 Peggy-O (maximum Jerry plz). Our DMCA mandated break is brought to you by Sir Bruce Hornsby's wonderful piano version of the Hunter/Weir composition known as Jack Straw, before settling down for the main course. 30 minutes of pure bliss in the form of the HUGE Iowa '78 Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain anchors down the tail end before finally calling it a show with the infamous Saenger Theatre New Orleans Althea from 1982 (where Bobby takes a little stroll off the stage and leaves the rest of the band to finish...). This space is getting HOT! Only on Shakedown Radio, Louisiana's Grateful Dead radio hour! See y'all in January!

Shakedown Radio Episode #002

November Dead is the bookending theme and there are some BIG ones to choose from. 40 years and a day to the fabulous '77 Rochester stop so we let that Mississippi Half-Step fly out the gates. Co-Host DJ Davvis shows his soft spot for '72 sonic-cowboy Dead with the Veneta China > Rider and our DMCA mandated JGB break features the VIBIEST of vibes on a cool 1990 West Coast Peter Tosh cover. The show is rounded out with one of my all-time favorite Terrapin Stations, where the band feels comfortable enough with Brent to stretch the middle section to a hypnotizing pace before lifting the roof off of the Spectrum with a hair-raising crescendo and segue into an expansive 22 minute Playin'. All in a day's work for us here at Shakedown Radio - join us next time as we continue trust to reason and hope it comes out right!

Shakedown Radio Episode #001

The first of what will hopefully be a long running South Louisiana Grateful Dead tradition! In Episode #001 we dive into the ferocious Rupp '78 'The Music Never Stopped', the bombastic Fillmore East '71 'Hard To Handle' (featuring an all-time Jerry solo and picture perfect Pigpen), the MASSIVE Lyceum 'Truckin' from Europe 72 before taking our DMCA mandated JGB break with the Live From Keane College 'Catfish John'. A poignant Band cover from Bobby & Rob Wasserman sets the tone for the show closing 'Cassidy' from the acoustic sets of Fall 1980 and just like that it's over just an hour after it began! May your life proceed by it's own design. See y'all in a month.
